GreenwashingAs a janitorial service, we find that the race to add Green Products to the janitorial closet is the primary claim for a Green janitorial business. This begs the question, "What happens when all the other firms eventually add Green products to their janitor carts as well?" We have long asserted that "Green does not come in a bottle," and it is misleading and dishonest to say that your firm is Green because of the inclusion of one or more Green products. After everyone equalizes out on products, which firms will be the ones that have the substance and credibility to earn the business from companies who are asking for Green services?
Green Clean Institute certification is more than a review of Green theory, but a commitment to the Green practices that exceed the value of a Green product. This is a true third party, federally trademarked, certification that will stand up under scrutiny. As the Green movement goes full circle, and the buying public looks beyond the Greenwashing pretense of Green products, the question will be whether there is some degree of competence, commitment, and certification for the boasts of janitorial firms. Those who follow our program will find that they will rise above the competition to be recognized as the reputable Green janitorial firms that deserve the business of the future.
